End of Life Planning Mystery solved! The final pieces of the jigsaw.

Updated: Feb 2, 2022

.

We all know that things need to be put in place at a time before we die in order to support both ourselves and our loved ones for when this time comes.

And due to the unpredictability of life, we don’t really know when this will be.

We often hear phrases such as “getting your affairs” and "necessary paperwork" in order, and I hear from others how it can be a “nightmare” for the loved ones who have to deal with all the

seemingly endless practicalities with no instructions left for them, whilst they themselves are grieving.

However, because the topic of death and dying is such a taboo in our society and often avoided, it is often unclear as to what “these things” actually are!

Well, simply stated:

  • Getting a Will in place and keep it updated

  • Leaving a document with all your personal, medical, household and financial information

  • End of Life Care and Funeral preparation & planning

  • Advance Decisions - for a time when you may no longer be able communicate your wishes about life-sustaining treatment

  • Lasting Powers of Attorney - having a Representative to make decisions on your behalf if you cannot decide or communicate these for yourself for both Financial & Property and Health & Welfare

  • Digital Legacy - all your passwords and account information for social media and online accounts.

  • Personal Legacy – harmonising relationships - making peace with ourselves and others, bucket lists, messages for others and having No Regrets.

  • Ensuring that you have left your paperwork in a dedicated file and telling someone where it is!

If this sounds like a lot or too overwhelming to do on your own, please do get in touch, and book a call with me.
